First Light was an unforgettable and inspiring evening of dance that marked the powerful collaboration between Skylar Campbell Dance Collective and our very own Voices of Arts Central. This one of a kind event brought artists and audiences together in celebration of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and the future of dance.
With a sold-out performance and a special open preview show, audiences were treated to an exclusive experience that highlighted the beauty and diversity of the dance world in an intimate space. The program featured breathtaking works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Christopher Wheeldon and Dani Rowe, whose artistry continues to shape the world of dance. It also shined a spotlight on the bold and fresh voices of rising choreographers Alejandro Gonzalez, Karina Gonzalez, and Hank Lichtmacher, whose pieces captivated the audience with emotional depth and inventive movement.
First Light was more than just a performance, it was a celebration of connection, risk-taking, and artistic vision. The energy in the theater was beautiful, the talent on stage was awe-inspiring, and the response from the community was overwhelming. Voices of Arts Central are deeply grateful to everyone who came, supported, and shared their talent and time in this meaningful collaboration.
This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where the light leads next.
